daddy day

early this morning, the kids gathered around john.
they were excited about father's day.


john, on the other hand...not so much.
he was still sleepy.


sleepy or not, he couldn't help but feel the love.


and by feel, i mean FEEL!


i can't help but love a man who isn't afraid of snuggling with his children.
and john really feels most comfortable when he's surrounded by them.

i asked josh to tell me some things he loves about his daddy.
here's what he had to say:

"i like to go swimming with him.
and he likes to go on the computer a lot.
i like how he makes dinner a lot--sandwiches,
i love him because he lets me talk on the phone if i want
and because he likes hamburgers."

i think josh may have been hungry, but you get the point.
they really love him for being so present in their lives.

happy father's day hubby. love you.

today i also thought about my dad a lot.
he's the big kid that all the kids want to play with.
he's the man that always says, "thank you honey"--even to the ladies at drive-thru windows.
he's the one who makes up funny raps and tells the funny jokes that all the kids tell their friends.
he's the one who loves john as his own son and love my children with a fierce passion.

oh how i miss him.
