i wasn't ready to show you the kitchen just yet.
we still have a few projects to do before it's finished, BUT...since nancy and nana keep hounding me, here you go.
here's our before. a sea of honey.
and now that i look at it, kinda mountain-like. am i right?
and here is our new kitchen.
we were going for a classic white coastal/cottage look.
and i think we got it!
you can see our new apron front sink and goose-neck faucet in this picture. one day we'd love to get new appliances and maybe a few glass-front cabinets, but for now, this will have to do.
this picture shows little, but important, details.
like new brackets under the cabinets to look more like pieces of furniture (well, that was the intention anyway), new under cabinet lighting all around, and new hardware on the drawers.
the island isn't done yet--do you like my masking tape? i'm trying to get an idea of what type of moldings i want to add.
our friend is going to paint it a blue grey color and distress the daylights out of it. the goal is for it to look old and well, different. first we need to do the math on the moldings and get that tacked up. then she'll come over and go to town.
and like i said in my last post, i'm struggling with my accessories too.
i think, like with any space, it'll take some time for me to decide what needs to go where.
overall, we are really happy with it. it's so much brighter and so cheerful.
and it flows so well with the rest of our home.
hope you like it as much as we do!
I love the idea about distressing the island in a blue-gray (heck, aqua would be fantastic, too!). It will really tie everything together. It all looks great!

ReplyDeleteI hope you win the giveaway...this is my favorite diy project so far. The differences in the befores and afters are incredible. Can you spare a little front door paint advice?
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely beautiful! You definitely got the coastal/cottage look you wanted. I love it! White cabinets just looks so sharp and fresh to me. Especially in comparison. I have wood cabinets just like yours. Oh, how I'd love to paint mine. But we have only been in this new house 5 years and I just know my husband would quake at the though.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
