today

this morning was the typical hectic, harried morning.
many trips up and down the stairs for forgotten items, kids needing money for school, snacks to be packed, nap mats forgotten, paperwork left sitting on kitchen counters, emails remain half-written, phone calls left unreturned, to-do lists sit untouched...

but today, today there is one thing that must be remembered.
today, our little girl turns 6.
and she is so excited about it.
and while we may not remember all the things our daily life that need our attentions, miss anna jean will not let us forget her special day.

and i will never, ever forget the day she was born. it was one of the most precious days of my life.

last night i told her at 3:11 am, while she was sleeping, she would turn 6.
this morning she woke up and said, "you were right mommy! when i was sleeping, i really did turn 6, because look at me, i'm so 6 now!"

we're going horseback riding next weekend to celebrate.
more pictures to come later.
instead, here are a couple of my baby girl that i love.
some are old and some are new. but i love them just the same.

happy birthday anna.
we love you so. i'm so very glad you are my daughter. i'm the lucky one.

Happy Birthday Anna! You're such a big girl now. I know you must be excited about being 6 and soon to be starting 1st grade! I hope you enjoyed your special day:)

Your blog is beautiful and your kids are amazing - I just started following. This is going to sound like a crazy question, but was the dress your daughter is wearing in the birthday cake pic handmade? I'm putting together the nursery for our little one due in September and the pink, orange & green fabric is just adorable. I'd love to get my hands on something similar. Figure, it never hurts to ask!!

Thanks for the comment! Yes, the fabric totally reminds me of Amy Butler too! I'll find something. Thanks for responding!
