sunday night football is humming in the background.
even the dogs are sound asleep at my feet.
it's been a whirlwind day.
the backpacks are ready to go.
the snacks are packed up.
three little water bottles are in the fridge, ready for morning.
the summer reading books have been read.
the stack of open house paperwork has been filled out.
checks for pta and new class tee shirts have been written.
outfits have been laid out along with new shoes.
i think we're as ready as we can be.
goodbye lazy summer mornings.
goodbye leisurely breakfasts and chats over coffee and milk.
goodbye evenings filled with nothing to do.
tomorrow we'll awake at dawn to a day full of the anticipation of a new school year.
it's hard to believe we're back here again already.
