for valentine's day john bought me an old mantle.

anyways, the high-gloss black was just too overpowering for me.
too heavy.
you know.
not white or tan or blue.
but the texture. OH MY. the lovely texture.
john did good. i knew i could make it work.


so a couple of weekends ago i spent the better part of a day painting and sanding and painting some more.





and now it's perfect for me.
it will be making its home on our new screened porch.
just leaning there for now, but it's a perfect fit.
