last day of school

last night, at the dinner table, josh, our son that hates to read, became a spelling genius! he was spelling things i never knew he could--all of his friends' names, things he saw on tv, the word 'spoon'. john and i sat in awe and josh beamed. anna, in true anna spirit, cried and threw a fit because she doesn't know how to spell.

today is josh's last day of school. he is officially a first grader. and i'm officially in shock at how fast this school year went. i'm so grateful to his teacher mrs. matice for making his first experience with school so wonderful and encouraging. he has really blossomed this year.

after school lets out, at 11am, the moms of the cul-de-sac are going to ambush the boys as they get off the bus. we will be armed with water guns and water balloons...and later on, with popsicles. i can't wait to see josh's face when the water starts flyin! it's going to be fun.

later this afternoon John's best friend victor and his family are coming to visit for the long weekend. we have so many things we want to do with them, most importantly fishing at the pond (as requested by lil vic), swimming at the pool (requested by anna) and of course, beer pong (as requested by john and vic). can't wait to get the weekend started early. have a happy memorial day!
