happy family-part 1

i'm having a bit of writer's block tonight. it could be from being in training classes all week (and next week too, sigh) or maybe it's because it's almost 9pm and anna just will not stay in her bed. either way, i'm beat and i'm not feeling all that creative.

so to keep it easy on a tired ol' me, here are some pics from our first couple days with nana and pop.

first we went to a father's day luncheon at anna's school. anna was so excited to have her father and her grand father there.

the next morning, anna surprised nana and poppy with a super big good morning hug--while they were still in bed!

ben and poppy had a great time getting reaquainted. it's been a while since they saw each other but you would tell they have some special kind of bond.

that afternoon i surprised everyone with a family photo shoot with my good friend melissa tash. we had planned an outdoor shoot, but the weather didn't cooperate so we mostly stayed in her studio. i'm so excited to see what we got. i'm hoping for something breathtaking, but let me tell you, it was not easy to get all of us in one shot and all smiley and beautiful. but who really cares? in the end it will be great to have a real family picture and for that i'm so grateful. i'll let you know what we end up with!

that same night josh's friend bruce slept over. the next morning, the boys could not believe that they both had the same shirts so they had to wear them together.

also that morning, anna went to her friend emma's birthday party. they really went all out for this one. check out the ginormous inflatable slide!

we went to our company picnic that afternoon and the kids had so much fun stuff to do: playing games and winning prizes, face painting, a balloon artist, eating picnic junk food (yum), listening to the band, and basically running all over God's creation. so, stay tuned tomorrow for part 2--company picnic, father's day breakfast, swimming, and more!
