road trip

today my friend julie and i took a road trip.

first we went to birmingham to pick up my new old chairs. then we made a stop at fabric jungle to pick out material for julie's dining room curtains. it's a huge and beautiful store, but a little on the snooty side. definitely worth the trip though and i think julie's drapes will be fabulous!
then we went to southern accents in cullman. it's an architectural salvage warehouse that is just too cool for words. when we left, our heads were dizzy with ideas. oh man, if i was building a house or doing major renovating, this would be my first stop. i bought a couple of handpainted tiles that were removed from the kildare-mccormick mansion here in huntsville before it was sold. i think they will be pretty displayed in my kitchen.

and although we had some craziness on this road trip (think insane amounts of pouring rain and a navigation system gone wild), it was so nice to be with my sweet friend and we laughed the whole way down and back.

thanks jules, i really needed it. but i think john is glad i'm back.
