goodwill hunting

a few months ago i wandered in my favorite goodwill store.
it wasn't a good day.
lots of junk.
i made my normal laps and finally made it to the lighting section.
i have scored here before and for some reason i zeroed in on these horrible brass sconces.

they were plug-in (bonus) and had a lot of detail (which could look fabulous spray painted).
and they were only $5.

i carried those sconces right out the door and straight into my garage--where they sat for months gathering dust and spider webs. boo.

last week i decided it was time to paint those bad boys and hang them in the office/craft space i'm working on.

i got lucky--i found the shades at target for $9. they are just what i had pictured in my mind, a simple brown linen.

don't ya love them?
see, spray paint is your friend!
happy goodwill hunting!
