my anna jean learned to ride a bike last week.
she could practically fly around the cul-de-sac on her scooter, so clearly balance wasn't her issue.
she is almost taller than josh, so we knew her bike wasn't too big for her.
all of her friends can ride bikes too, so the desire was there.
so...what was the problem?
FEAR.
she was afraid.
she was afraid of failing.
she was afraid she wouldn't be able to do it.
eventually, her desire to try made her hop on that bike.
and literally three minutes later, she was off and riding!
you should have seen the happiness!

fear holds me back from so many things too.
i'm afraid of failing.
i'm afraid i won't be able to what i want to do.
i'm afraid i will be the only one that can't do it.
so many times.
fear is very good friends with insecurity.
watching anna conquer that bike was a valuable, tangible lesson for her--and for me too.
i'm so proud of her.

Wow, this hits home. With an 8 year old who is also too afraid to do it without the training wheels, she just said to me this past week "let's just take them off and I'll try it without them."
FEAR. Its such a debilitating word...no matter what our age. Congratulations to your brave girl:)
I am always amazed how God brings about such lessons to be learned through my children. As we love our children, so he loves us. :)
We're on our own "learning to ride" adventure with Austin. Go, Anna! You rock, sister and remember this moment when you conquered your fears. You can do anything!
Anna, we knew you could do this and we are soooo proud of you! Love Nana
Great job, Anna!
I read a quote about fear just today ~ it said, do we spend as much time thinking about our fears as we do about our dreams... so, so true.
so thoughtful and inspiring. She is soo precious, Amy!!
