front door

i've been scouring all the stores, looking for something pretty and inexpensive for my front door, but i just couldn't find anything. with help from nana, i set off to create something simple, easy and pretty. after hitting walmart and michael's, i made this. only took about 15 minutes and i think it looks pretty good!



i found a wine bottle gift box thingy and covered it with scrapbook paper. then i shoved a piece of floral foam in the box and stuck in the floral picks. then i tied some ribbon to the wine box and hung it on the hanger.

easy peasy--the way i wish all my projects were!

fun family

we've had some fun today.
first was lunch for the adults at five guys.


burgers, fries and cokes. the all-american meal.

the boys went to the lake to scope out fishing spots.
the girls went shopping at my new favorite store, pimentos.
i bought this.


don't worry aunt sue, when you come down, i promise i will take you. and you are going to love all of it.

then we picked up all the kiddos. anna is borrowing floppy the frog from ms. betty. she's been taking him everywhere.


after dinner we played the wii again.
poppy is soooo bad at mario kart. he kept getting stuck behind walls and driving into the hot lava.



we laughed until we cried.

we were such a fun family today.

foodie

we've been all about food lately.
maybe it's because summer is ending and we want to savor it all before it's gone.
maybe it's because fall is coming and we are anxious to remember it.

john is having a tailgate party at work so i made these.


reese's cupcakes--chocolate fudge cupcakes with peanut buttercream icing and chopped resse's cups.
look who really like them. big surprise there.


after football practice tonight, we treated the kids to bruster's ice cream.
this child is all about his food. look at this face i got when i took away the ice cream cone to snap a picture.


we are some serious foodies.
since nana and pop are visiting this weekend, i bet we'll be some serious drinkies too. (wink)

she did it again

one of my most favorite blogs ever, little momma and company, posted the cutest idea ever!

she made her kiddos little pretend "cameras" that the boys took with them through the days activities. they pretended to take pictures of different things,


and when they got home, they "developed" their pictures--drew pictures of what they saw that day.

i really think my kiddos would love this. we might just have to give it a try.

seriously, have you checked out her blog yet? it's colorful, it's funky, it's got music, super happy music. she is always doing amazing little cooking classes, making keeper recipes which she shares (thank you!), even makes and sells cutie aprons! so inspiring! why are you still here? go!

sorry about yesterday--i just didn't get around to taking pics of all of the updates.

but i will, i promise!

instead, we were busy with other things like playing at a birthday party, doing crafts and running through sprinklers




and doing math homework (yes I do realize it's probably counterproductive to take pictures while josh is doing his homework, but he was counting as high as he could by tens and it was funny watching him get out of breath!)


tonight we have to fix john's truck (don't ask) and then it's off to football and dance. so maybe later this week i'll be able to post updates. sorry aunt sue--you have to be patient!

she's in germany right now and while this isn't a picture of her, it is a picture of her husband (he's the tall one with the big horn)! HAHAHA
