mommy the grouch

i took off work on friday to spend time with my mom who was visiting for the week.
plus, ben still wasn't 100% himself and on top of that, there was bad weather coming our way so i expected schools to close early.

we did get some weird weather. sleet, freezing rain, some snow, and brrrrr cold.
schools dismissed a couple hours early and we've been trapped inside since!
it's freezing out!
even the poor dogs do not want to go outside!

so let's summarize here, i've been home, cooped up in my house with the kids, since thursday afternoon.
we all are suffering from a severe form of STIR-CRAZY-ITIS!

to compound it all then nana went and left us and i've been sad ever since.
we all have. anna's been crying off and on and josh kept hoping she would call us and say her flight was canceled.
the only happy one in all this is poppy! he's so happy she's home, but we miss them both!

add this all together and i'm in a serious GROUCHY mood.
if the kids want to play video games, fine by me.
if the kids want to play a board game, fine by me.
if the kids want to watch another movie, fine by me.
just leave me BE.

so that's what they did.
boy did they.
i didn't hear a peep from them (all of them) for a good couple of hours.
when i went to check on them, i saw this.

three clean and ready for bed children watching tom and jerry.

all together, sharing popcorn, curled up together on the floor.

HAPPY kids, CONTENT kids.

what a difference some quiet time can make.
i guess for everyone.

i'm still working on not being a grouch, but for now, it's all warm and toasty in our home. the kids are happy and safe and loved.
and that's all that matters.

Don't worry, we all have grouchy days. Sometimes our little ones can just sense it and entertain themselves for awhile or offer a huge hug and beautiful smile. Melts my heart everytime and makes me feel happy again. :)

The color of the PBK playroom is caribbean mist by benjamin moore. It looks crazy bright wet but dries nice.
