1st day of school

the alarm went off at 6:00am. at 6:15 i asked john to get josh up.

to my surprise, i turned around and there he was, standing behind me...already fully dressed, down to his socks and new sneakers! josh was ready to go to first grade.

tonight was anna's first soccer practice and josh's first football practice.

john took anna to practice since he's coaching. anna's team decided to call themselves the "pink ponies" and so i'm off to find some pink water bottles for each girl and some pony stickers.

i took the boys to football. it was only 108 degrees outside when we left to go to practice. luckily, ben and i chilled in the shade and met some new families from church.

i wondered if we did the right thing signing josh up for football instead of soccer with his neighborhood friends. but when he came over to me in the middle of his water break and told me that he was having so much fun, i knew we made the right decision.


everyone's in bed early tonight. first day of school tomorrow! stay tuned for some pictures from the bus stop!

crazy monday

today was a crazy monday. first was ben's physical therapy at 8. meet mrs. jeannie. we just love our mrs. jeannie.


then off to preschool and work. out at lunch to run errands. there were cleats, shin guards and soccer shorts to buy. back to work. after work there was the rush to pick up the kids and head to josh's first grade open house. that's right, i said first grade. said hello to his new teacher mrs. gibson and then wrote like fifty checks to every school organization on earth.

back home for supper and then out to the yard to finish moving plants and the good dirt. we are having our deck extended and the existing deck prepped to become a screened porch. uncle jay came over to help. very exciting stuff.




anna took a moment to pose for me--look at how big she's getting. i can't get over those long legs!


then back in for a quick game of mario kart, and on to jammies and bedtime. just finished cleaning up the kitchen and starting a load of laundry. whew. i'm exhausted. need to go pack bags for preschool again tomorrow, and for josh's football practice and anna's soccer practice, and probably should check home emails, and pay some bills...i'm ready for tuesday already. mondays are crazy.

heard round the house

my little kiddos are awfully chatty this morning. here are a few things heard 'round the house.

anna: "mommy your legs are sharp and splintery."

mommy: "i guess i should shave them."

anna: "get all the pointies off."

josh: "what's for breakfast?"

anna: "pancakes."

josh: "what's for lunch?"

anna: "pancakes."

josh: "well what's gonna be for dinner then?!"

anna: "waffles."

josh: "yes!"

ben: "BAH!" {meaning "ball!", in reference to his new toy}

we've been super busy this weekend. playing superman, or girl.

making birthday cards (can you see what josh drew on that boy? yes, those are his balls.),


playing with empty wrapping paper rolls,

anna and ben have been spending lots of quality time together,

and playing so hard, you fall asleep on the floor in the midst of it all.


fun, tiring weekend.

when i was home with ben last summer, i started watching the ellen show. and that girl is super funny. but one episode in particular was so crazy funny and i remember calling up julie (a fellow ellen fan) and making her watch it too.
